Calvin B. Johnson M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Johnson is the former Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Temple University Health System and the former Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In that role, he served as senior advisor to the governor and directed the health-services and regulatory functions of Pennsylvania’s Department of Health, an agency with more than 1,500 employees and a budget of nearly $1 billion. Prior to serving the people of Pennsylvania, he was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Temple University School of Medicine and a practicing pediatrician on the medical staff of Temple University Children’s Medical Center. Dr. Johnson graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in chemistry. He earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a master of public health degree from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. He completed his training in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
